1998 That’s when it all started. I got my first chance to work from home. It was contract work for a former employer. I was hooked.

Unlike a lot of my co-workers, going to an office was not a social outing. I wanted to get my work done and go home. I wasn’t anti-social – I attended company soirees, had coffee with my officemates, went for drinks after work. But that was enough for me.

Once, when a super long ethernet cable was delivered to an office I worked in, I quipped “That’s just about long enough for me to work from home!”. Everybody laughed. I was quite serious.

Since then I’ve run my own businesses from home (and on the road and at the family cottage), and I’ve worked corporate jobs. My boss may change but I’m a work-from-home lifer now.
